Pretty cool. I love straight pull bolt rifles.

Yeah, it's action is copied from another rifle that has been out for a very long time but never gained traction due to it's very high price. So Savage decided to copy the design and then try to sell it at a price that's outside of the range of most people who love Savage rifles for their high accuracy/low price. The claimed "improvement" is speed. Not something of concern with a bolt action rifle typically. Maybe Savage is banking on a SA rifle ban?

    MY bet.
We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution is designed only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for any other. - John Adams, 2nd U.S. President -

The way they claim you have to snatch the bolt handle doesn't really speed reloading that much. I'm only a little faster with my K31 than I am with my Mosin. Might want to be careful you don't give yourself a black eye with that thing.

Banning SA's! Man,don't even think that way.

I find the time saving comes from not having to come of your scope and target to operate the bolt. At least that's the way it works for myself and my Blaser

I never drop my bolt action rifles down to cycle a round. I practice so my hands always go to the bolt handle then back to the trigger without having to drop off and look for the controls. I tune all my rifles so it takes the least resistance to work the bolt. Most bolt action rifles right out of the box suck. I polish cocking cams and raceways so everything glides smoothly. One of the reasons I prefer milsurp is they have been broke in already and need a lot less work to perform.

I wonder if it protects you any better in an overload situation than a blazer rifle does.
